Wheatley Montessori is now enrolling eligible four-year-olds for the 2026–2027 First Steps 4K program. This free, full-day program helps children build the academic, social, emotional, and practical-life skills they need for a confident transition to kindergarten.

First Steps 4K is a state-funded program that provides free, full-day four-year-old kindergarten to eligible children in South Carolina.

At Wheatley Montessori, children experience meaningful, hands-on learning in an environment designed to encourage independence, curiosity, confidence, and respect for others.

Students attend in person five days per week and participate in developmentally appropriate activities that prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify for First Steps 4K, your child must:

  • Be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026

  • Live in South Carolina

  • Meet the program’s income or qualifying eligibility guidelines

Eligibility is determined by South Carolina First Steps.
